‘Cold, rainy conditions to continue in parts of the country’ – weatherman

The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted that the cold and rainy conditions in the country will persist for the next five days.

In a forecast covering the period between July 30, 2024, to August 3, 2024, cloudy conditions will also be experienced in some parts of the country.

Intermittent cold and cloudy conditions are expected over parts of the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley.

Rainfall will continue in parts of the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, North-western Kenya, and the Coast. The rest of the country will be generally dry.

Counties expected to have rainfall in the next five days include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.

Turkana and Samburu Counties are also likely to experience rainfall for the first three days of the forecast and sunny conditions on August 2 and 3.

Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi Counties are also likely to experience showers and cold nights in the next five days.

Night-time (min) temperatures will be low (less than 10°C) in parts of the Central Highlands, the Rift Valley, & the South-eastern lowlands. High daytime (max) temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced in parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya,” the weatherman added.

Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties are likely to experience drier conditions as well as Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta.

Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties will experience drier conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday, while showers are expected on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
