Wamae: Wajir MP only echoed harsh reality on 2027 elections manipulation to support Ruto
By Ascah Mwango, July 14, 2025Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has weighed in on the recent controversial remarks by Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Abdi Jehow, saying they reflect the painful truth about Kenya’s 2027 elections.
Wamae, in a statement shared via her X account on Sunday, July 13, 2025, said Jehow’s words were not a wish but a reflection of the desperation some leaders feel ahead of the next polls.
“When MP Wajir says the only left option is vote manipulation, it is not her wish. She has evaluated all the chances without option,” Wamae posted.

Jehow caused an uproar after she publicly admitted that some MPs from the North Eastern region are prepared to rig the 2027 elections in favour of President William Ruto.
Speaking at a public event in Wajir on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Jehow declared that leaders from the region are fully behind the President and are even willing to manipulate the electoral process to secure his re-election.
She unapologetically stated that their support is so unwavering that they are prepared to engage in electoral malpractice to guarantee victory, despite lacking the numerical strength in terms of actual votes.
“We, MPs from the North Eastern, support the President. Even if we don’t have the votes, we will steal them for him… that’s no secret.” Jehow said.

She also dismissed concerns about low voter turnout in the region, suggesting that some leaders are willing to use any means necessary to deliver a win for Ruto.
2027 election credibility
The remarks sparked outrage across the country, with Kenyans on social media demanding accountability. Many questioned the credibility of the upcoming elections and called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to take action.
Several civil society groups have urged the IEBC to investigate the matter and take steps to ensure the integrity of the electoral process is upheld.
On the same day, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki addressed the growing concerns during a meeting in Kuria East Constituency, Migori County. He dismissed the claims that Kenya Kwanza is planning to rig the 2027 General Election.
“Our opponents are already panicking and blackmailing the IEBC. Commissioners are referees; they cannot favour anyone.”
He insisted that the IEBC is an independent body and cannot be manipulated.
“We don’t need any favours from the IEBC. Our strategy is built on delivery,” Kindiki said.
He further explained that President Ruto’s administration is focused on delivering development and will seek re-election based on performance, not propaganda.
