By , July 12, 2025

Roots Party of Kenya leader George Wajackoyah is set to graduate from the University of Walden with a Doctor of Law degree.

In a statement on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Wajackoyah revealed that it had taken him at least six years to prepare for the graduation ceremony, which will be conducted in Orlando, Florida, in the United States of America.

“Tomorrow is D-Day. 6 years of hard work. Tuko Orange Convention Centre, Orlando, Florida. PhD Law & Public Policy. The work is listed in the Library of Congress for future research in law and scholarly writings,” Wajackoyah stated.

Unconventional manifesto

Wajackoyah, a figure who burst onto Kenya’s political scene with an unconventional manifesto, remains a subject of public fascination. A legal practitioner and academic, Wajackoyah’s journey from a challenging childhood to a prominent presidential candidate in the 2022 general election captivated many.

In his previous interview with a local TV station in the run-up to the 2022 general election, Wajackoyah revealed that he was a well-educated person who had travelled across the world and mentored many students.

“The first degree I did was from the University of Wolverhampton, where I got a third-class honour in law because at that time, I was digging graves, washing dead bodies, working as a security guard, and going to school at the same time,” Wajackoyah said.

Well-read individual

“After that, I went to the University of London, where I did my first master’s, and after that, I went to the University of Warwick, where I did another master’s. Ekuru Aukot came there five years behind me.”

“I practiced law in the United Kingdom for a while before I moved to the United States and did another Master’s of Law degree at the University of Baltimore,” he added.

He claims to hold 17 degrees from various institutions globally, including a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Wolverhampton and Master of Laws degrees from the University of London (SOAS) and the University of Warwick.

While Wajackoyah did not win the presidency, his 2022 campaign served as a powerful statement on the evolving nature of political engagement in Kenya.

His ability to capture public imagination with his unique blend of academic gravitas and eccentric policy proposals demonstrated that unconventional approaches can still resonate with a segment of the electorate.
