TSC opens application portal for 24,000 teacher interns vacancies
By Cynthia Lodite, August 26, 2025The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially opened the application portal for 24,000 teacher internship vacancies in junior secondary schools across the country.
According to a notice released on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, TSC called on interested and qualified applicants to take advantage of the opportunity.
“The application portal for 24,000 vacancies for teacher interns in junior schools, August 2025, is open,” TSC announced.
Sub-County Likewise Sub-County: Likewise, TSC has further directed interested candidates to visit its official website for full details on the available vacancies per county as well as each sub-county.
“Details on available vacancies per county and subcounty are on our website http://tsc.go.ke,” TSC wrote.

TSC announces 24,000 intern positions
Worth noting, the application portal opening follows the announcement of at least 24,000 vacant teaching positions across the country by TSC, expected to fill the number of teachers who will take over junior schools to support the implementation of the competency-based curriculum.
In a notice published in the past edition of MyGov, released on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, TSC stated that the new interns will be employed on contract terms and receive a monthly stipend of Ksh20,000.
“The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 24,000 teacher internship posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency Based Curriculum,” TSC said.
The commission is calling upon interested and qualified teachers to submit their applications through the commission’s portal before Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Qualifications for Junior Interns
According to TSC, the applicants must be Kenyan and hold at least a diploma in Education, with a minimum mean grade of C+ and a C+ in two teaching subjects in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
“To qualify for recruitment, a candidate should meet the following minimum requirements: Be a Kenyan citizen; Must be a holder of at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two teaching Subjects in KCSE or its equivalent,” TSC wrote.
Likewise, according to TSC, qualified candidates must be fully registered by the Teachers Service Commission, while further adding that applicants should visit the commission’s website to check their qualification record.
