Thursday blackout to affect parts of 2 counties – Kenya Power
By David Nthua, October 29, 2025Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced that several parts of Migori and Kiambu counties will experience planned power interruptions on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
In a message shared on its official X account on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the company said the maintenance exercise will run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm as part of efforts to improve power stability and reliability across the country.

“Good evening. Please note that the following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow, 30th October 2025,” Kenya Power wrote.
According to the notice, residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly and ensure all electrical appliances are switched off during the maintenance period to avoid damage when power is restored.

Kenya Power stated that these upgrades are part of an ongoing national program aimed at modernising power infrastructure and minimising unplanned outages.
South Nyanza Region
In the South Nyanza region, the areas to be affected include Taranganya, Senta, Kehancha, Kobinto, Komasicha, Nyamomtiro, Nyaroa, Masangwa, Nyabikokori, Ntimaru, Wangirabose, Igena Itambe, Angata, Gwikonge and neighbouring customers.

“The outage is expected to begin at 9.00 a.m. and end at 5.00 p.m. Kenya Power technicians are expected to carry out network upgrades and equipment inspection to enhance supply efficiency in Migori County.
North Eastern Region
In the North Eastern region, parts of Kiambu County, including Nazareth, Kimorori, Gatatha Farmers, Kawaida, Black Petals, Koba Waters, Taka Taka Solutions, Nazareth Hospital, Sycamore, and Gatono Village will also experience a similar interruption.
The scheduled works, which will take place within the same timeframe, will focus on replacing ageing equipment and strengthening distribution lines to support growing power demand in the area.

Kenya Power has in recent months intensified its maintenance exercises across the country as part of its plan to provide stable and reliable electricity to households and businesses.
The company has assured customers that normal supply will resume immediately after the completion of the scheduled maintenance.
