Tanzania has reopened its airspace to both scheduled and non-scheduled international flights after the travel ban last month.

On Monday, President John Magufuli directed the Works, Transport and Communication Minister Isack Kamwele and his Tourism counterpart Hamisi Kigwangala to lift the international flights’ ban.

“As long as their body temperatures don’t point to anything unusual, I will allow them to proceed and view Tanzania’s wildlife without being quarantined,” said Magufuli.

Magufuli’s Transport minister swiftly complied with the directive, allowing commercial passenger, diplomatic and humanitarian relief flights into the country without any restrictions.

“I direct the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority to inform International Civil Aviation Organisation about the decision, and ensure that the directive is fully implemented,” Kamwele said according to The Citizen.

Tanzania closed its airspace on April 11, being one of the last countries, except Ethiopia, to suspend international commercial flights.
