Sunday blackout to affect Nairobi, 4 other counties

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled blackout expected to affect five counties on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
In a statement shared on the evening of Saturday, June 8, 2024, the utility company cited maintenance as the reason for the planned outage.
The utility company also noted that the blackout will affect Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Kakamega, and Uasin Gishu counties.
In Nairobi, the blackout expected to start from 9 am to 5 pm will affect part of Parklands, Westlands, Muratina Road and Babadogo.
Parts of Parklands and Westlands that will be affected include; Stima Lane, Bidwood Suites, Blue Ridge, Westgate, 3rd Parklands Avenue, Mpaka Road Citam Church, Ngao Road, White Field Place, Safaricom House, School Lane, Gulam’s Mohammed, Mwanzi Road, Gen Mathenge Drive, Peponi Road, Howard Humphreys, Pinewood Estate Pushpark DVPLtd, Portfolio Ltd, Sarit, Sky Park Plaza, Kipro Centre, Garden Properties, Bishop Properties, Carbon Ltd, New Rehema House, Cannon Al Fab Ltd, Telkom Kenya, Ravine DVP Ltd, Madina Homes, Raphta Road, St Michael Road, Laxmanbhal, Western Heights, Park Plaza Ltd, Sankara Hotel and Sarit Centre.
Parts of Muratina Road that will be affeted include; Captain Mungai, part of Ushirika Fupi/Refu, Jam Street, Deliverance Church Eastleigh and adjacent customers.
Part of Babadogo areas that will be affected include; Noy Transporters, Kenafric Confectionary Fact, Kenafric Sweet Fact, LG Harrles, Unicorn, Babadogo Sec, Trade Setters Industries, Babdogo Business Park, Kenafric Business Park, Babadogo Laundry Village, Babadogo Mosque, Sal Raj, Riverside Estate, Kariadudu and adjacent customers.
Kiambu areas that will be affected from 8 am to 5 pm include; Farmers Choice, Kihunguro and Dr Mattress.
Parts of Farmers Choice that will be affected include; Palak Steel Mills, Carbacid Factory, Kijabe Boys, Kijabe Hospital, Uplands Police STtaion, Nyambare, Githironi, Nyamweru, Murengeti, Mutosi, Kinyogori, Rukuma, Gitithia, Kimende, Lari, Magina, Kinale, Soko Mjinga, Kame, Mathore, Kijabe, Kabunge, Kijabe, Farmer Choice Factory and adjacent customers
Parts of Kihunguro and Dr Mattress areas that will be affected include; Kihunuro, Wonders Church, Gichoya Water, Bederine Hotel, Mark Hotel, Imani House, Plains View Hospital, Kihunguro Mosque, Ruiru Star, Rubis Petrol, Shell Kihunguro, Listar Supermarket, Dr. Mattress, Agri Bakery, Hotpoint, NGK C/Fact and adjacent customers.
In Nyeri, the blackout will affect parts of Karatina Town and Ihwagi from 7 am to 5 pm.
Areas that will be affected include; Karatina Girls High School, Karatina Police Station, Jamii Hospital, Karatina Sub-county Hospital, Karatina Jua Kali Industry, Ragati Slaughter, Super Loaf, Mathira Dairy, Karatina University Town Campus, KIE, Salgon, Karatina Railways Station, NHC Karatina, Maguna Supermarket, Muthua Estate, Karidundu Estate, Kanjuri Market, Giagathege TBC, Kianganga Village, Kiunjugi TBC, Kariambi TBC, Ragati Forest Station, Mathaithi, Gatondo Market, Gatondo Secondary School, Kiaritha-Ini Sec Schoo;, Safaricom and Airtel Boosters, Salama Millers and adjacent customers.
In Kakamega, the blackout expected to start from 8.30 am to 5 pm will affect Bungatsi and Musanda areas including Buriya Mutoma, Bungatsi, Butende and adjacent customers.
Uasin Gishu areas that will be affected from 10 am to 5 pm, include Sokomoko and Sinendet centre.
Areas that will be affected include; Maragusi, Makutano Market, Muyuki, Mukuyu Sakam Quarry, Lower Kipkaren Cente, Upper Kipkaren, Nyengeilel Sec School, Nyengeilel Centre, Murugusi Dispensary, Murugusi Primary, Murugusi Centre, Lumakanda Secondary School, Lumakanda Hospital and adjacent customers.
