Speaker Wetang’ula mourns the death of Isiolo South MP
By David Nthua, November 12, 2025National Assembly Speaker Moses Masika Wetang’ula has joined the growing list of leaders mourning the passing of Isiolo South MP Mohamed Tubi.
The lawmaker passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

Parliamentary notice of death
In a formal notification to the House, Speaker Wetang’ula said, “It is with profound sorrow that I inform you and the nation of the demise of our esteemed colleague, the Member for Isiolo South Constituency, the Hon Tubi Bidu Mohamed, MP, who has left us this evening.”
The Speaker added that until his demise, Hon. Tubi served on the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining and the Public Petitions Committee.
He was serving his first term as a Member of Parliament. Previously, he had been the inaugural Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, serving diligently until 2017.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace. More details will follow,” the Speaker concluded.

Condolences from leaders
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale expressed grief, writing, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Today, our nation, and especially the people of Northern Kenya, mourn the passing of Hon. Mohamed Tubi, MP for Isiolo South, who succumbed after a long illness.
“Hon. Tubi was a respected elder and a dedicated leader who served his constituents with commitment and humility since his election in 2022.
“My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and the people of Isiolo South. May Allah have mercy on him and grant his family patience. Allah y rahmo” (الله يْرَحْمو).

President William Ruto also shared his condolences on social media, stating, “I have learnt with deep sorrow of the passing on of Isiolo South MP, Hon Mohamed Tubi.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Kenya, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Isiolo South.
“Hon Tubi will be remembered as a dedicated public servant and a passionate advocate for education, who believed in empowering communities through knowledge and opportunity.
“His commitment to transforming the lives of his constituents and advancing development in Isiolo stands as a lasting legacy of his leadership.

“May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace and comfort his loved ones during this very difficult time.”
Hon. Mohamed Tubi’s death is a significant loss to Northern Kenya and the National Assembly, with many paying tribute to his dedication to public service and community development.
