Security apparatus drawn from Isinya, Kajiado County have nabbed six notorious criminals who have been terrorizing residents of Kitengela and its environs.

The six suspects including Burundi and Tanzanian nationals are believed to have been masterminds and ring leaders of the spate of robbery with violence that has been on the rise in the last four months.

The criminal gang has been operating in the most cavalier manner, targeting high-end estates where they take captive victims forcing them to withdraw hundreds of thousands from all mobile app options before getting away with electronics.

Working on a tip-off from members of the public and forensic data analysis, detectives from Kitengela managed to arrest the six at a hideout in Mlolongo town.

The suspects were found in possession of a range of electronics including televisions, hoofers, guitars, laptops and phones.

Tens of sim cards and ATMs stashed in a bible and a getaway saloon car used by the suspects were also intercepted.

Isinya Deputy County Commissioner Justus Musau says detectives are pursuing other suspects on the run.

He says detectives are on high alert to curb criminal gangs taking a toll on members of the public, especially at the populous Kitengela town.

Members of the public have been called to visit Kitengela police station for identification of stolen electronics.

The suspects who are being held at Kitengela police station will be arraigned at the Kajiado Law Courts on Monday where detectives will be seeking to detain them for more days to allow further investigations.
