Narok South OCPD Ezekiel Kiche and his driver Constable David Maina were arrested on Thursday morning at Longisa town with a government vehicle loaded with cider posts.
The arrest was effected after Bomet County ecosystem conservator, Ann Nyaoke, informed the local Kenya Forest Service officials of a government vehicle she suspected was carrying banned cider posts.
KFS chief inspector, Evans Ontiri, said he dispatched a team that intercepted the lorry about one kilometre from Longisa township.
“The canter had two occupants and on checking [we] found it loaded with cider posts,” said Ontiri.
The lorry was driven to the KFS offices in Bomet while the occupants, the OCPD and his driver were detained at the local police station.
The exact quantity and value of the cider posts was not established during the arrest.
