Senator Cheruiyot threatens to reveal opposition figure’s dirty graft secrets
By William Muthama, September 20, 2025Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has threatened to expose the opposition’s dirty secrets, saying their constant talk about corruption will not go unanswered.
He accused them of hypocrisy, arguing that those pointing fingers at the government are themselves guilty of worse.
Speaking during an empowerment programme in Kapenguria, West Pokot, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, Cheruiyot declared that opposition leaders had no moral authority to question President William Ruto’s administration on matters of graft.
He warned that the time for political accountability was coming, and their past deeds would be revealed.
“Wakati wa siasa ikifika tutaambiana ukweli… tutawaanika uchi peupe mpaka mambo yao ijulikane,” he said, loosely translating to: “When politics comes, we will tell the truth… we will expose them completely until their secrets are known.”

Warning of hypocrisy
Cheruiyot intensified his criticism, saying the same leaders attacking government officials over corruption were themselves worse offenders.
“Watu wanongea hapa, corruption nini nini, na ni waizi wakubwa kushinda mtu yeyote, ni waongo kushinda shetani, lakini wako hapa kusema hee,” he charged.
Loosely translating to: “People here talk about corruption, yet they are bigger thieves than anyone else, liars worse than the devil, yet they come here pretending.”
He further claimed that those shouting the loudest about graft had little to show in terms of development.
“Huezi onyeshwa shule wameijenga hapa West Pokot, ama kanisa, lakini kwa fitina namba moja,” Cheruiyot remarked, loosely translating: “They cannot show you a school they have built here in West Pokot, or even a church, but when it comes to causing trouble, they are number one.”
Targeting opposition leaders
Cheruiyot argued that the opposition cannot match Ruto’s team in leadership or delivery. “Uzuri sisi tumewapima na wale watu hawawezani na William Ruto. Kuna mtu anawezana na Ruto kweli?”
Turning his attention to Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Cheruiyot dismissed his presidential ambitions, mocking him as unfit to challenge President Ruto.
