Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has expressed regret over missing a much-anticipated performance by Kenyan DJ Lisney in Sydney, Australia, citing his commitment to constituency responsibilities as the reason for his absence.

In a message shared on his social platforms on Thursday, July 24, 2025, Salasya praised DJ Lisney, affectionately referring to her as “musichana wetu wa Murima” and “my buddy,” urging his friends and supporters in Australia not to miss the electrifying show.

“My friends in Australia, you can’t miss HER vibe,” Salasya wrote. “She is good in Amapiano, Afrobeats, and Kenyan music.”

Pressing matters

While he had initially planned to attend the concert in person, the MP explained that pressing matters in his constituency had to take precedence.

“I was to be in Australia, Sydney, this weekend,” he said. “Unfortunately, I had to go to balance my constituency mandate kwanza in Mumias East.”

Salasya on DJ Lisney’s show

Earlier this month, Salasya had confirmed he would be attending DJ Lisney’s highly anticipated concert in Sydney, Australia.

Salasya said that he would be in Sydney on July 26, 2025, in a show of support for the Kenyan girl child.

Taking to his official Instagram account on the night of Thursday, July 3, 2025, the outspoken legislator expressed excitement about joining the celebrated Kenyan DJ, saying the event holds deeper meaning beyond entertainment.

“I will join you, @dj_lisney, in Sydney. I will also be in Sydney, Australia, on 26 July. I must attend your concert to support the girl child from Kenya,” Salasya stated.

Salasya, known for his grassroots connection and vocal presence both online and offline, has continued to embrace unconventional methods to engage with his youthful base ahead of the 2027 general elections—and his presence in Sydney would be seen as a continuation of that trend.

The youthful lawmaker has declared his interest in the 2027 presidential race.

DJ Lisney, known for her electric performances and commitment to social causes, is hosting the Sydney concert as part of her global tour aimed at raising awareness and support for girls’ empowerment initiatives in Kenya.

The event is expected to attract the Kenyan diaspora community and supporters of African talent abroad.
