Salasya denies demeaning MCAs, blames fake accounts for malicious posts
By Mustafa Juma, August 30, 2025Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has dismissed claims that he demeaned Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), terming the viral posts circulating on social media as “fake news” meant to tarnish his name.
In a written statement shared on Instagram and a video message to his supporters on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Salasya apologised to MCAs across the country, particularly those from Kakamega, who were the main target of the claimed remarks.
“To all honourable Members of County Assembly in Kenya, I apologise over fake news circulating in my name, demeaning honourable members of county assembly, more so those of Kakamega,” Salasya wrote.
Pseudo accounts
The youthful legislator further clarified that the posts claiming he had referred to MCAs as “unlearned” were manufactured by individuals running pseudo accounts on different social media platforms.
“So, guys, there is something I have just seen going around on social media, trying to demean honourable MCAs, portraying it as if I am the one who spoke, saying that they are people who are not learned. You know, Peter Salasya is a very big brand, and you should not take seriously anything written unless I have spoken that thing with my own mouth,” Salasya said in his video.

Salasya on mode of communication
He further urged his supporters to disregard messages not directly delivered by him, noting that he prefers video communication to avoid misrepresentation.
“There are so many pseudo accounts on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X. They just want to trend using my name. I want to tell my supporters not to take any written information seriously unless I have spoken,” he added.
Salasya claimed that the fake posts were politically motivated and aimed at creating bad blood between him and MCAs in Kakamega due to his rising popularity.
“I want to apologise to all MCAs in Kenya and tell them that the information they have seen is something coming from Kakamega, trying to malign me because they have seen my popularity, and they now want to create a conflict between me and Kakamega MCAs,” he stated.
The MP reiterated his respect for MCAs across the country, insisting that the fake news campaign would not succeed in dividing him from grassroots leaders.
