Ruto’s credibility in tatters even his truths sound like lies – Ex-Azimio agent Kanchory

By , August 6, 2025

Former Azimio chief agent Saitabao Ole Kanchory has continued with his onslaught on President William Ruto, this time accusing him of falling into a deep crisis of credibility that renders even his honest statements questionable.

In a statement on his X account on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Kanchory said the Head of State’s leadership has made him lose trust in the very electorate that voted for his administration.

“The best punishment for a liar is that nobody believes them even when they tell the truth. This is the hole William Ruto finds himself in,” the statement read.

Kanchory, who played a central role in Azimio’s 2022 presidential campaign, said that Ruto’s frequent contradictions, broken promises, and shifting narratives have severely damaged his standing with the Kenyan public.

“What we’re seeing is the natural consequence of habitual dishonesty in leadership,” Kanchory stated in a previous interview on a local TV station.

“Kenyans no longer take the President seriously on anything from the economy, to foreign policy, to the fight against corruption.”

He warned that a president without public trust is a danger to democracy and incapable of uniting or effectively leading the country.

Kanchory called on Ruto to confront the growing credibility gap through transparency, truthfulness, and measurable action.

“No policy can succeed when the people have stopped listening,” he argued.

Ruto on his leadership

President William Ruto has boldly proclaimed himself the most accomplished leader Kenya has ever had, citing nearly three decades of political experience, academic credentials, and youthful energy as the reasons behind his performance-driven leadership style.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, on Monday, August 4, 2025, during a meeting with leaders from Tharaka Nithi County, the President said his unique blend of experience leaves him with “no excuse but to deliver” for the people of Kenya.

“I’ve served as an MP for 15 years and as Deputy President for 10. I’m not too old, I’m young and capable. Kenya has never had a President who is also a PhD holder and that’s me,” he said.

“I was born and raised in the grassroots. I understand Kenya’s problems. There has never been a President with my level of education, knowledge, and experience. That’s why I must perform,” he declared.

In a symbolic nod to Kenya’s political legacy, Ruto said he had drawn inspiration from all four of his predecessors.

“I have Jomo Kenyatta’s courage, Moi’s understanding, Kibaki’s education, and the development plan I shared with Uhuru. With that combination, I have no excuse but to transform the nation,” Ruto asserted.
