Ruto woos MPs to support National Infrastructure Fund bill, promises mega dams
By David Nthua, November 12, 2025President William Ruto has wooed MPs to support the yet-to-be-introduced National Infrastructure Fund bill in Parliament.
The Head of State spoke in Makueni on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, where he revealed that his government is keen on moving Kenya from a third-world to a first-world country.

In his message, Ruto emphasised the need for modern infrastructure, dams, and roads to drive development across the nation.
National Infrastructure Fund unveiled
“Twendlee na mambo ya maji? Mtanisadia tujenge dams mpya? Nitapeleka mambo mbunge.
“Nimesema tunatenIFgeneza a National Infrastructure Fund (NIF) Ambayo itattusaidia kujenga mabwawa ya maji ile inaitwa mega dams, itatusaidia kujenga 10,000 kms mpya za barabara ya lami na ambayo tutahakikisha tuko na sitima, negawatts zingine elfu kumi mpya.

“Ndiyo Kenya itoke from a third-world country to a first-world country, watu wa Makueni mko tayari?” Ruto told the cheering crowd.

The President urged legislators to support the bill once it is tabled in Parliament, saying that it will provide a structured mechanism to fund large-scale national projects.
He explained that the initiative will improve water access, transport networks, and electricity supply across all counties.

Support for local projects
Ruto also promised immediate support for Makueni residents. He said Ksh50M will be allocated to build a new market in Wote town.
The project, he noted, will create jobs for locals, provide modern trading facilities, and boost local commerce.
The Head of State highlighted that investing in infrastructure and public utilities is key to Kenya’s transformation.

He added that alongside dams, roads, and power expansion, the government is committed to ensuring citizens benefit directly from development programmes.
Ruto concluded by appealing to MPs to cooperate with the government in delivering impactful legislation.

He reminded them that the National Infrastructure Fund will leave a lasting legacy for future generations while supporting Kenya’s journey toward a modern and prosperous nation.
