Ruto pauses rally in Wote to rebuke police officer
By David Nthua, November 12, 2025President William Ruto paused his speech for a few seconds during a public rally in Wote town.
This happened after one of the uniformed police officers was seen pushing members of the public, who had gathered to listen to the Head of State.

Ruto immediately addressed the situation, telling the officer to leave the citizens alone.
“Wewe soldier wacha kufukuza wananchi bwana. Wachana na wananchi. Hawa ni wadosi wangu bwana, si ndio, si ndio?” Ruto told the officer.
The President used the moment to highlight government programmes that are benefiting locals in Makueni.
He spoke about the ongoing Affordable Housing project, explaining that the buildings have now reached ten floors and will soon be extended to fifteen.
“Ndio maana mimi nimefika hapa Makueni leo kuwakumbusha ya kwamba hii program ya affordable housing yenye tulianzisha inaendelea vizuri.
“Sasa imefikia ghorofa kumi na tutaipandisha ghorofa kumi na tano,” he said.
Ruto added that the new housing developments will create jobs for local youth. “Hiyo soko itakua mali ya watu wa Makueni na Wote.
“Nimeambia huyo contractor aajiri vijana wa kutoka hapa Wote town,” he said, urging locals to take advantage of the employment opportunities available.
Focus on development in Ukambani
The rally came as part of a three-day working tour of the Ukambani region, where President Ruto, accompanied by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and several Cabinet Secretaries, has been inspecting and launching development projects.

During the tour, Ruto also commissioned the Mikuyu Bridge in Kilome West to prevent flood-related deaths.
He handed out 2,140 title deeds to residents of Kasikeu, resolving longstanding land ownership issues.
The President reiterated that projects in water, housing, energy, and markets are intended to transform Ukambani.
“We have said we will transform the Ukambani region, and we will do it through projects and development plans. Malice, slander, hatred, and tribalism cannot change Makueni,” Ruto said.
