The Kenyan government will use its available resources to ensure that more Kenyans who are jobless secure decent jobs in overseas nations, President William Ruto has promised.

Through his Facebook account on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Ruto excitedly stated that his administration is empowering Kenyans in the diaspora to thrive and contribute to national growth.

He spoke after engaging the Kenyan diaspora community in Doha, Qatar, on the sidelines of the United Nations Social Development Summit.

Boosting diaspora services

The President said the government has streamlined diaspora services to make them faster and more efficient.

He revealed that passport processing time for Kenyans with job offers has been reduced from three months to just three days, allowing them to take up opportunities abroad without delay.

Ruto added that to protect Kenyan workers, more than 600 rogue labour agencies have been deregistered.

He said that deployment of workers will now only happen to countries with formal bilateral labour agreements, ensuring that Kenyans are employed safely and fairly.

Creating new opportunities abroad

The Head of State further said that Kenya is pursuing new agreements to secure skilled and professional job opportunities for Kenyans overseas.

He explained that this will allow young people to access better-paying roles, gain advanced skills, and later bring valuable experience back home.

Ruto also noted that the government is exploring ways to make it cheaper and easier for Kenyans to send money home.

He said the administration is creating more investment options for the diaspora community, including through the proposed diaspora bond, which will help strengthen their contribution to Kenya’s economy.

“The government is committed to making the lives of Kenyans abroad easier, safer, and more productive,” Ruto said, adding that the diaspora remains a vital pillar of Kenya’s economic development.

The President assured the Kenyan community in Qatar that the government will continue working closely with them and provide full support to ensure their welfare and participation in national growth.
