Rangwe MP dismisses critics calling for Ruto to go as dreamers
By Luke Oluoch, July 25, 2025Rangwe Member of Parliament Lilian Gogo has spoken out against the critics of the broad-based government led by President William Ruto as dreamers.
Speaking during an empowerment forum in Muhoroni on Friday, July 25, 2025, the legislators stated that those clamouring for Ruto to vacate were dreaming.
“I want to tell those who are thinking that Ruto is going anywhere, my friends, you’re dreaming. Ruto is two-term. We are in this broad-based, and if Baba says it right, we go with him. He is now working with the president, and we are firmly behind him and the president,” she stated.
The function saw speaker after speaker rally support for the Ruto-Raila pact, with the MP further thanking the government for reviving the Harambee spirit through the economic forum.
She also thanked the people of Kisumu for staying peaceful and abstaining from the planned protests that were witnessed in the country during the June 25 anniversary protests and the commemoration of the Saba Saba rally.
“I want to thank the Gen Zs of Kisumu for keeping sober and staying away from conflict when people planned demos across the nation,” she added.
The MP’s sentiments come after ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna railed on Ruto’s government during a recent interview.
Sifuna’s criticism of the government centred on the failure by the government to honour the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), particularly on issues related to extrajudicial killings, abductions, and governance failures.

Defending ODM’s stance
However, in a quick rejoinder, Uriri legislator Mark Nyamita defended ODM’s engagement with the government, emphasising that the MOU was a strategic move aimed at ensuring national stability until the 2027 general election.
“I heard the party leader speak last week. He said this association was the only way to remove the president, and that is through the ballot in 2027. Until then, we must have our country intact. If we are to remove him, it must be for a valid reason. Sifuna did not provide that,” Nyamita stated.
Nyamita further admonished Sifuna to resign from the party if he does not believe in the association with the government.
“If you didn’t believe in the MOU in the first place and you’re the Secretary General, if you don’t believe in the association, simply bolt out. It’s simple,” Nyamita added.
