In a bid to encourage more Kenyans to undergo coronavirus disease testing, opposition leader Raila Odinga on Sunday took himself to Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) centre at Mbagathi, Nairobi.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader said that he took the test the Kemri centre based to encourage other Kenyans to voluntarily take the test to know their health status.

So far, Kenya has confirmed a total of 3,457 Covid-19 cases with 1,221 having healed from the virus.

The death toll from the virus pandemic hit 100 on Saturday.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, Nairobi leads with 1,546 cases, accounting for 44.7 per cent of cases in the country.

It is closely followed by Kenya’s other city, Mombasa, which has 1,020 (30%) and Kajiado with 106.

In total, 38 out of the country’s 47 counties have reported cases of the virus.
