A prominent trader in Kakamega County was found dead in his house on Monday in a suspected suicide.

Several of his workers said that they found the trader’s body hanging from the roof of one of his houses that was under construction at Lwesere village in Lurambi.

The trader, Simon Kilonzo, had last been seen on Sunday night.

The local assistant chief, Phoebe Andati, said that police have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the trader’s death.

The body was moved to Kakamega County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem report.

The deceased owned a liquor store and several other businesses in Kakamega town.
