Police and rescue team led by the Nairobi County government in Kamulu on Friday, July 30 retrieved two bodies from an underground water tank.

The two aged 21 and 30 years were among a group of young men who were trying to pump water from the 50 feet tank.

They are believed to have died out of suffocation and lack of oxygen as they delayed inside the deep tank.

Out of speculations, the residents in the close neighbourhood checked on the two since they had taken too long but unfortunately, they were found dead.

According to one resident, Dennis Simiyu, this is however not the first time the accident is happening.

“This has happened for the third time. The rescue process started at 5 am and they have managed to retrieve two bodies. We are waiting for the exhausted tractor to confirm if there could be another person trapped inside,” Simiyu said.

Their bodies were taken to the city mortuary as police launch investigations and control safety in the residence.
