Police in Masinga, Machakos County have arrested a middle-aged man on suspicion of sodomising a 23-year-old mentally ill man.

The suspect is said to have lured the man into a thicket, where he committed the crime on Thursday evening (April 16).

The suspect, who is being held at a Masinga police station, was on his way home from the market, when he saw the 23-year-old mentally challenged man and lured him into a bush, where he is said to have sodomised the victim.

Masinga Sub-County Police Commander Francis Sirol confirmed the incident to K24 Digital, saying investigations into the matter are ongoing.

The victim was treated at a Masinga hospital and discharged.

Sodomy is a felony per Section 162 of the Kenyan Penal Code, punishable by 14 years’ imprisonment, and any sexual practices between males (termed “gross indecency”) are a felony under section 165 of the same statute, punishable by 5 years’ imprisonment.
