PHOTOS: Activist Julius Kamau arrested outside parliament for attempting to disrupt Ruto’s address
By Mustafa Juma, November 20, 2025Political activist Julius Kamau was arrested on Thursday outside Parliament after attempting to stage a protest during President William Ruto’s State of the Nation address.
The police swiftly intervened, escorting him from the scene as security around Parliament remained on high alert.

The activist who was demonstrating against extrajudicial killings lay on the ground in an attempt to resist the arrest, but he was hurriedly carried away by the police.
Kamau was quickly taken into custody and booked at Parliament Police Station.
Authorities say the activist sought to disrupt the proceedings of the joint parliamentary sitting, which was being attended by lawmakers as the President delivered his address.

Kamau’s previous drama
However, this is not the first time Kamau has caused drama during such high-profile events.
On Friday, June 14, 2024, Julius Kamau Kimani was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts alongside Eric Mankuyu for accusations of disrupting the then Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u’s photo session during the anticipated reading of the budget.
Kamau and Mankuyu appeared before Milimani senior principal magistrate Benard Ochoi to face charges of creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by yelling, shouting, and attempting to disrupt the photo shooting session by the then Cabinet Secretary of National Treasury and Economic Planning and his delegates.
However, drama still ensued in court when Kamau kept shouting as he tried to explain why he was angry, insisting that the government was oppressing the poor.
“People are suffering…I want to know what is the role of the government. The government has failed, everyone has failed…We must have this conversation…We cannot continue living like this…” Kamau kept on shouting in court.
Efforts by his lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, and the magistrate to calm him down bore no fruit.
The court orderly also tried to calm him down, but he kept on shouting.
