Evans Juma Wanjala a serial murder suspect has pleaded not guilty to murder charges after being arraigned at the Kapenguria High Court.

The suspect denied three murder charges before Kapenguria High Court judge Justus Bwonwonga.

Wanjala was facing three counts of murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code Cap 63.

The court heard that between December 31, 2017, and January 1, 2020, Wanjala murdered Stacy Achieng in Moi’s bridge area, Soy Sub County, but the suspect denied the first account.

On count two, the accused person was charged with committing murder on Linda Cherono within Moi’s bridge area between June 11 and June 15, 2021, but the suspect denied the second count.

On the third count, the suspect also denied having killed Mary Eruza at Tuiyaberi area in Soy Sub County between December 15 and December 16, 2020.

The accused is alleged to have killed and defiled five girls in Moi’s bridge area in Uasin Gishu County between the years 2017 and 2021.

Representing the accused, Michael Wabomba Masinde filed an affidavit for the suspect to be bailed out, but the bail terms were denied by the court.

“The bail will be determined by the Eldoret High Court. If he is given the bail he might interfere with the murder case,” Justice Bwonwonga said.

Justice Bwonwonga directed the case to be mentioned on September 8, 2021.

Parents of the deceased girls who followed the court proceedings are now calling for justice.
