As the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education(KCPE) enter day two today, 46 candidates have completely failed to come out in Mbeere North to take their exam.

Their absence in exam rooms has sent panic in the county’s education sector of the student’s whereabouts.

According to the Director of Education in Mbeere North Sub-county Joseph Ngonjo, the students had been registered but their desks remain deserted. Ngonjo stated that they have tried reaching them in vain.

“We have 46 students in Mbeere North sub-county who have not turned up for KCPE exams, that is the biggest challenge we have,” Ngonjo confirmed.

He attributed the absentees to muguka farming and sand harvesting which are dominant in the area.

Ngonjo said that in the Subcounty 3,807 candidates were registered for the exam, 1,912 are boys and 1,895 are girls.

The director said the education ministry and other stakeholders are doing everything possible to look for the candidates.

In Embu county, three students are taking their exams at Embu level 5 hospital where two have delivered and one is on a normal medication.
