In addition, Njeri lauded her legal team, who helped her through her advocacy path, as well as social media influencers who gave her a platform.

“I share this with all of you, the legal team, and the extensive 50M+ cash-bail campaign team. The social media influencers who’ve given us a platform. Justice be our shield and defender!” Njeri wrote.

Notably, the Champion for Justice Award, presented by Governor Meyer, recognises individuals and groups that demonstrate commitment to fairness, equity, and legal advocacy within communities.

By acknowledging her contribution, the Delaware community highlighted the international impact of legal campaigns and social justice initiatives extending beyond national borders.

Who is Njeri Maina

In 2022, Njeri Maina became one of the youngest ever politicians to be elected to the Kenyan Parliament, when she became the Kirinyaga County Woman Representative.

Since then, she’s gone on to claim her space on the national stage, particularly by fashioning herself as one of the defenders of the Kenyan youth in the National Assembly, and also a foot soldier of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Further, the trained lawyer has been at the forefront representing the detained youths from the recent Saba Saba and Gen Z protests pro-bono, something she says not only gives her satisfaction, but also justice to the accused youth.
