The National Assembly has been criticised for “overstepping” its mandate by refusing to allocate counties Sh335 billion as proposed by the Commission on Revenue Allocation.
ODM leaders led by Siaya Senator James Orengo have accused MPs of interfering with the works of organs created by law, saying failure to allocate the funds will derail growth in counties.
The National Assembly agreed to give counties Sh316 billion, while the senators insist on Sh327 billion. Last week senators moved to court to challenge National Assembly’s decision
Speaking on Saturday at Agoyo Oyombe village during burial Alego Usonga CDF staff Emmanuel Okoth, Orengo said National Assembly was wrong in reducing county resources after allocation had been done based on each county’s needs.
