Mwengi Mutuse resigns as Alfred Mutua’s Chief of Staff to run for Kibwezi West parliamentary seat

Mwengi Mutuse has tendered his resignation from his position as the Chief Of Staff of Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua. The decorated lawyer has his guns trained on the Kibwezi West parliamentary contest.

Mutuse announced his resignation on his twitter account, stating that his exit was in compliance with section 43(5) of the Elections Act, which requires Public officers eyeing political posts to exit office 6 months to elections.

“I have today tendered my resignation as Chief of Staff Machakos in compliance with section 43(5) of the Elections Act requiring public officers who wish to contest elective positions to leave office six months prior,” his statement read in part.

Mutuse, who claims that he is arguably the longest-serving aide in Kenya, thanked his boss, Governor Alfred Mutua, for the trust and confidence he had in him and his capabilities through the period they worked together.
