COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has once again taken a swipe at ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi for choosing to work with Deputy President William Ruto instead of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Atwoli’s statement comes weeks after Mudavadi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula announced that they will work with DP Ruto and not the Azimio la Umoja movement which they termed as a state project.

Speaking at a public ceremony in Mombasa, Atwoli now says that it was wrong for Mudavadi to abandon the president more so after he (Uhuru) organized a state funeral for his late mother Hannah Mudavadi who passed on in December 2020.

According to Atwoli, it is against the Luhya culture for anyone to abandon one who helps him/her bury a family member. He, therefore, claimed that the ANC boss was cursed and needed prayers.

“As per the culture of the Luhya community, it is wrong for one to cater for my mother’s burial and I later betray him. I want to ask the church to pray for Musalia Mudavadi; he will get lost,” Atwoli said.

Atwoli further dismissed Musalia’s pact with Ruto noting that it is Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja movement that will carry the day after the August 9 general election.
