Mosiria vows crackdown on prostitution in Pipeline
By Mustafa Juma, July 24, 2025Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has pledged to intensify efforts to restore moral order in the Pipeline area in Embakasi South Sub-County, vowing to take firm action against prostitution and related vices that he says are tearing apart families and exposing children to harmful environments.
Following a recent community cleanup initiative in Pipeline, Mosiria revealed that he has received numerous messages from residents highlighting other pressing issues in the neighbourhood, including the open display of prostitution, particularly near residential areas where families and children live.
Moral decay
In a statement shared via his official X account on the night of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, Mosiria vowed a crackdown targeting women whom he says have been openly engaging in prostitution and exposing young children to things they should never witness.
“After cleaning Pipeline, many people have been tagging me, highlighting other areas that also need urgent intervention. I even saw it trending online, with calls for action growing louder. I want to assure you I have seen your concerns, and I will act,” Mosiria stated.
He emphasised that while the cleanup was a physical effort to reclaim public spaces, the moral decay in the area also needs urgent attention.
Mosiria specifically pointed out the dangers of children witnessing inappropriate behaviour, warning that such exposure could have long-term psychological and societal consequences.
“We will sweep Pipeline completely, including addressing the issue of women openly engaging in prostitution and exposing young children to things they should never witness. Some of these actions have led to broken families and marriages, giving innocent women sleepless nights,” he wrote on X.

Protecting next generation
Calling for collective reflection, Mosiria urged residents to help restore dignity and protect the next generation from destructive influences.
He underscored his commitment to supporting women, safeguarding families, and promoting responsible behaviour across all communities.
“Where did we take our good morals? Have we, as a society, decided to suspend our values and embrace moral decay? It’s time for us to reflect, restore our dignity, and protect the next generation from such destructive influences. I remain committed to helping our women, saving families, and bringing back order, respect, and moral responsibility in our communities,” he stated.
