Political activist Morara Kebaso has pledged to lead Kenya’s Generation Z in rejecting tribal politics, calling for inclusivity and accountability in leadership.

In a statement shared via his X account on Monday, December 9, 2024, Kebaso condemned political formations built on tribal lines, stating they promote ethnic exclusion and hinder national progress. He urged young Kenyans to stand against leaders who use their tribal affiliations to evade accountability.

“I will lead the Gen Zs towards rejecting any political formation that is organized on the foundation of a tribe or coalition of tribes. We are tired of political parties that glorify ethnic exclusion,” Morara declared.

He called out leaders who weaponised tribalism to deflect criticism and accountability, labelling them as enemies of progress.

“Any leader escaping accountability on the basis that his or her tribe is being targeted is our enemy. Hatutakubali. Wasahau kabisa,” he added.

His remarks come weeks after he declared his bid for the presidency, pledging to champion the interests of the country’s youth.

Morara to protest over IEBC

Just recently he expressed his readiness to lead street protests against the lack of a functioning Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

In a statement posted on his X account on Friday, December 6, 2024, he urged Kenyans to join him in pushing for urgent reforms in the electoral body. He affirmed his readiness to take to the streets whenever the public is prepared.

“I am ready to go to the streets for IEBC. Mkikua ready mniambie twende,” Morara stated.

The IEBC has been in limbo since the retirement of former chairperson Wafula Chebukati and commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye in January and the mass resignation of the Cherera Four; commissioners Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi, and Justus Nyang’aya. The Cherera Four stepped down under controversial circumstances following the fallout from the 2022 general election results.
