“Received distress calls on the ongoing protests and continue reaching out! I urge protesters to remain vigilant and peaceful and call our toll-free line to report any incidents,” she said.

LSK toll-free line

On June 19, 2024, the LSK said that they would be offering legal assistance to the protesters who have been unlawfully detained or have suffered injuries.

LSK further shared their toll-free line and urged members of the public who would like to report, to reach out adding that they are in solidarity with those affected by the disrupted peaceful protest.

“We invite members of the public to report any incidences of violence or arrests during the peaceful protests to the @LawSocietyofKe toll-free line,” LSK disclosed.

“The Law Society of Kenya stands in solidarity with those affected by the disrupted peaceful protests.
If you need legal assistance, have been unlawfully detained, or have suffered injuries you would like to report, please reach out to us via the toll-free line above.”

Anti-government demos

The ongoing anti-government protests being witnessed countrywide come after a series of notable victories from the previous protests.

President William Ruto, refraining from making into law the controversial Finance Bill 2024 and dissolving of the cabinet are among the issues Gen Zs demanded during the previous protests.

Despite these concessions from the government, the youths remain unsatisfied. In this week’s fresh demos, the protesters are demanding accountability of the leaders in the Kenya Kwanza administration,  fighting corruption and finding solutions to the country’s economic crisis.
