Google has released a list of most downloaded apps in Kenya as at Saturday, July 10.
Financial apps especially those giving credit services top the list followed by social, shopping and lifestyle apps.
Safaricom’s MPESA topped the list followed by MySafaricom, Tiktok and AsapKash a credit services application.
Others are LionCash, Kashway, Jumia Online Shopping, Credit Hela, Ipesa and LCash Apps respectively.
At position eleven is KashPlus folowed by Shwomax, Kopesha, Apesa, Boomplay, Opera Mini, Opera News Lite, HELB and Tik Tok followed by Inua Funds.
Popular social applications such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and twitter were ranked beyond position 20.
The latest ranking comes after Google issued another list of applications it wanted its users to delete from their phones.
The search engine argued that hackers were using the applications to steal users personal information from Facebook.
The list of applications that have been downloaded by over 5.8 million people are said to have trojan malware which is usually installed after users log into their personal accounts.
Google stated that the attackers could have in a way changed the settings and commanded them to load the webpage of another service that appears to be genuine.
“They could have used a completely fake login form located on a phishing site. Thus, the trojans could have been used to steal logins and passwords from any service,” Google said.
