Kuria to police: Show Kenyan youth same mercy you showed the Dutchman

Former Senior Economic Advisor in the Office of the President, Moses Kuria, has urged Kenyan police officers to extend the good gesture (of restraint even when provoked) as done by Diani police officers to a Dutchman who insulted them while in custody.

Through a post on X, the outspoken politico has urged all Kenyan police officers to always be harmless when it comes to the Kenyan youths.

He said that the fact that no single police officer dared to utter a word inside that police station where the Dutchman had been locked, and the fact that all were armed and kept on receiving verbal attacks, shows that the police can do a commendable job.

“I am really impressed with the restraint and patience of our police officers in Diani in the face of extreme provocation by that Dutch bigot. Kumbe, can we do it?

“Now, my good friends, let’s extend the same magnanimity to our Kenyan youth,” Kuria wrote on X.

That aside, the foreign national has left Kenyans’ mouths wide open after being for their help, stating that he is suffering from a medical condition.

Then man The man, identified as Elwin Ter Horst, said he suffers from psychosis and was in distress when the confrontation occurred.

In a video online, where he is seen being escorted to enter a car with officers next to him, Horst stated that he did not intend to offend anyone and pleaded with Kenyans to forgive him.

“Apologies, I have psychosis, and I need my medicine. I did not have water and food for a long time. People of Kenya, my name is Mufasa.

“I call on your help, people. I want to stay here. I want to live in this country, invest in this country. I want to do business here and help the people of Kenya. My apologies that I was shouting,” he said.

All the same, the clarion call by Kuria comes amid repeated cases of police brutality during protests, with June 2025 and June 2024 protests serving as historic and prime examples.
