A nominated member of the Kiambu County Assembly has died in a road accident along the Thika Super Highway.

In a statement by Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi on Sunday, September 22, 2024, the governor conveyed condolences to the family of Ezra Kabuga Kihara, stating that he was a vibrant and promising young leader.

“It was with a deep sense of loss that I received the sad news of the death of the nominated Member of the County Assembly, Hon. Ezra Kabuga Kihara. Hon. Kabuga was a vibrant and promising young leader, whose commitment and passion for serving the people of Kiambu were evident in every aspect of his work,” Wamatangi stated.

Wamatangi promised the family of the deceased that the county was involved in their grief, adding that Kihara was a kind legislator who had left a legacy of friendliness to people around him.

“We share in your sorrow and honour his memory, which will live on in the legacy he leaves behind. On behalf of my family, the County Government of Kiambu, and the great people of Kiambu, I urge Hon. Kabuga’s family and the County Assembly to accept our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Wamatangi added.

The legislator was also mourned by Kiambu MCA Ann Muratha, who described Kihara as a promising young leader.

“My deepest condolences go out to the Kiambu County Assembly, his family, and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Hon. Ezra was a promising young leader, and his sudden departure was a tremendous loss for all who knew and worked with him.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may those grieving find strength and comfort in the memories they shared with him. Rest in peace. It hurts,” Muratha said.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has also joined the Kiambu County fraternity in mourning the death of the youthful MCA.

In a statement shared via his official X account, Kingi described Ezra as a promising young leader.

“I send my sincere condolences to the family of Hon. Ezra Kabuga Kihara, Member of the County Assembly of Kiambu and a promising young leader, who lost his life in a car crash earlier today. My prayers are with you and the people of Kiambu County at this moment of deep grief,” Kingi stated.
