Kenya Power announces Sunday blackouts in parts of 3 counties

Kenya Power has announced that parts of Nairobi, Kiambu and Mombasa counties will experience planned electricity outages on Sunday, October 12, 2025, as the utility undertakes scheduled maintenance operations.

In a statement on Saturday, October 11, 2025, the company apologised in advance for any inconvenience the planned shutdowns may cause to residents and businesses in the affected areas.

“Good Evening, Please be informed that the following areas will undergo planned power maintenance tomorrow, 12th October 2025. We regret any inconvenience this may cause during the operation,” Kenya Power wrote.

In Nairobi, the utility company noted that the power maintenance will impact areas around Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, including Mitchell Cotts Group, Swissport Kenya, Transglobal Cargo Centre, Freight Complex, Kenya Bureau of Standards – JKIA, Forodha House, Air Connections Ltd, DHL Global Forwarding, KAA, Four Points Hotel, Global Freight Logistics, Crowne Plaza Nairobi, Siginon Freight Holdings, Vegpro, Barabara Plaza, KENHA Headquarters, and neighbouring customers.

The shutdown, it added, will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“NAIROBI REGION. Crowne Plaza Nairobi, Kunhne + Nagel Ltd, Air Flo, LSG, Sky Chefs, KCAA, NAS, Acceler, Siginon Freight Holdings, Vegpro, DB Schenker, AFA-HCD, Barabara Plaza, KENHA Headquarters & adjacent customers,” the Kenya Power statement read in part.

Kiambu

In Kiambu County, power will be temporarily cut off in areas around Juja Town and JKUAT, covering Mungetho, Mirimaini, Kiaora Farm, Nchengo Farm, Mtaro Farm, Kariki Farm Bob, Harries, Kijito, Mashule Estate, Karakuta Estate, Gachibi Farm, Kwa Ndumbe, Kirai, Mutuma Market and Gitatuiya.

Power in the county will also be cut off in Mangu, St. Francis Girls, Kairi, Kagabwa, Gatukuyu Market, Kawira, Diana Farm, Kihenia Farm, Kigio Market, Oriti Farm, Maryhill Girls, Eagadds, Farm Brister Girls, Gachororo, Juja Preparatory, Newwood Estate, Silvercoin, St Peter School, Kenyatta Road, Juja Industrial, Mukinyi Road, and surrounding customers.

Kenya Power added that maintenance will also take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Coast

Along the Coast, parts of Mombasa County, including Shanzu and Bamburi will be affected from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Areas impacted include Bamburi Special Products, Bamburi Staff Quarters, Serena, Dolphin, Flamingo, Kilua, Shaza, Shimo la Tewa Primary and Secondary, Sunset Paradise, Pride Inn Paradise, Shanzu Garden Estate, Shanzu Water, Bamburi Airstrip, Shanzu Bush, Jolarabi, Zawadi Apartments and Braeburn School.

Areas around Shanzu Beach Homes, Shanzu Law Courts, Shanzu TTC, Mamangina, Ocean View, Whitesands, Severine, Plaza Beach, Kero Port, Utange Village, Bamburi Beach, Pirates, Travellers, Vescon 1 & 2, Lakeview, Bashir Mosque, Ajanta Estate, Mishomoroni, Anwar Alli, Matingasi, Naivas Bamburi, Nyali Plaza, CTM, Millele and Jumeirah will also be affected.

Further affected areas in the region include Baobab, Kingston, 1st to 4th Avenues, Nyali, Malindi Road, KRA, NITA, Links Garden Estate, Nyali Shree Links Estate, Bohora Apartments, Bella Plaza, Bombolulu Estate, Kwa Bullo Estate, Mwatamba Police Station, Mwembeni Stage, JCC, Majaoni, Utange, Kiembeni Blue & Green Estate, Ugatuzi, Kajiweni, Junda, Kashani, Bamburi Mwisho, Mlaleo, Mtopanga and surrounding customers.
