Kenya Power announces scheduled power outage in 6 Counties

A planned power outage slated for Thursday, June 6, 2024, is poised to cast its shadow over six counties in Kenya, according to the latest notice from Kenya Power.

The scheduled blackout, strategically timed for maintenance endeavours, will encompass multiple regions, each slated for temporary disruption at distinct intervals throughout the day.

“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power announced in a notice published on its official website.

Though transitory in nature, the impending outage is anticipated to exert a palpable impact across various sectors and activities within the affected counties.

Kenya Power further stipulated that the forthcoming power blackout on Thursday will affect Nairobi, West Pokot, Nyeri, Busia, Kiambu and Mombasa Counties.

Nairobi

Area: Garden estate

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Along Garden Estate Rd & adjacent customers.

West Pokot

Area: Makutano, Kapenguria, Murkwijit, Kesogon

Time: 9:00 am – 11:00 pm

Places affected: Makutano, Kapenguria, Kapenguria County Hosp, Lelan, Murkwijit, Kesogon, Kapkoris & adjacent customers.

Area: Safari hotel, Kamatira

Time: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Karas, Safari Hotel, Korelach, Kapkoris, Kamatira & adjacent customers.

Nyeri

Area: Kamatogu, Honi resort, Mwireri, Jersey farm

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected:  Kamatongu, Muthiga Garden, Gen Karangi, Honi Resort, Aberdare County Club, Mwireri, Jersey Farm, Mweiga Blooms, PCEA Honi Prayer Centre, Flora Farm & adjacent customers.

Busia

Area: Butula, Bumutiru

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected:  Butula, Bumutiru, Murumba, Oloo Mkt, Benga University, Tingolo, Masende Bale & adjacent customers.

Kiambu

Area: Tola, Bob Harris, Ngoingwa, Metro, Tibs, Compuera

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Whole of Tola, Kiahuria Shopping Center, Metro, Parts of Ngoingwa, Compuera, Mpesa Academy, Muiri, Albbizia, Vincentian, Kiahuria & adjacent customers.

Mombasa

Area: Msumarini, Vipingo, Junju

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Ngoroko FEM, Ngoloko Pri Sch, Ngoloko Seagas, Sultan Palace, Msumarini, Mferejini, Vipingo Beach Properties, Vipingo Bureni, Rea Vipingo, Junju, Gongoni, Mapawa, Kolewa & adjacent customers.
