Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout scheduled to affect several areas across Nairobi, Bomet, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kirinyaga, Meru and Kiambu counties on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
The utility company attributed this interruption to routine network maintenance.
In Nairobi County, the affected areas include parts of Ridgeways and Thika Road specifically, customers around Safari Park Hotel, Jambo Grill, Milele, Sunstar Hotel Top Quality Garage and adjacent customers from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
The scheduled power blackout in Bomet County will affect areas of Siongiroi and Labotiet from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Affected customers include residents of Emarti Market, Lalela Farm, Siongiroi Market, Chebunyo Market, Sigor Market, Kaboson, Kataret, Lelaitich and adjacent customers.
In Trans Nzoia County, the 9.00 am to 5.00 pm power interruption will affect parts of Endebes, Panocal area 51, Toro, Kapchepsir, Sabwani, Kimoson Girls, Kipsingori, Botwa, Kararafarm, Pembeni Farm, Kapchepsir, Kimoson School, Kachibora, Mito Mbili, Geta, Kiptoi, Kipkeikei, Kapkarwa, Kimoson, Kaplamai, Kipsingori, Botwa, Karara, Yuya, Moisbridge, Conbelt and adjacent customers.
Customers in Kapcherop, Chebai, Kibigos, Kapcherop Market, Chebal Centre, Kibigos, Makutano, Kapyego, Kapsalt, Kimnai, Sitoton Market, Yemit Secondary School and adjacent customers of Elgeyo Marakwet County will experience power blackout from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.
In Kirinyaga County, areas around Baricho and Njeru Githau will be affected by the planned power interruption from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Specific parts include Baricho Market, Baricho Boys, Njeru Githae, Thumaita West, Kiambwe Booster, Kiandai Market, Riamugaa Market, Blue Valley, Kiandagai Secondary Multiple Academy, Kanjai Market, Kathaka, both Gathuthini Primary and Secondary School and adjacent customers.
The 9.00 am to 5.00 pm power blackout in Meru County will affect areas of Akaiga and Kunati. Parts set to experience the interruption include Mutewa Secondary, Akaiga, Kooju Market, Kaathi Primary, Kamujine Dispensary, Kunati Market, Ngongoaka Primary, Mulango, Ametho, Athwana Mikinduri, Amatu and adjacent customers.
Similarly in Kiambu county, areas in Posta, Terrasol and Gatatha roads are set to experience the planned 9.00 am to 5.00 pm power blackout. Affected customers are residents of Fairy Flowers, Wet Farm Thangati A Sovereign Suites, St. Julian’s, Red Hill One, Red Hill Heights, Red Hill Villas, 2020 Estate, Tropical Heat, Zerenty, Redhill Flowers, Wandue Farm, Mount Olive, Flora Delight, Rosen, Lisa Farm, Eva’s Garden, Rurigi Farm, The Retreat and adjacent customers.
On the other hand areas around the Munyu dispensary will also experience power interruption, parts affected include, Magajo Primary, Farainya St. Paul Gatuanyaga, Magana Primary, Munyu Girls, Munyu Dispensary, Munyu Police Station, Githima S/Center, Komo S/Center and adjacent customers.
Areas around Karuri, Banana, and Ndenderu will also be affected. The specific parts include Karuri Hospital, Banana, Njoro, Kianjogu, St. Tito, Rueno, Parts of Gacharage and adjacent customers.
