Two Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers and a police officer shot and seriously injured each other after they mistook each other for terrorists in Bura, Garissa County.

Constable Emmanuel Ngao was challenged by two KDF soldiers on patrol and he immediately opened fire after mistaking them for militants.

He shot and seriously injured KDF’s Senior Private David Mbugua and Jeremy Malusi who also shot him in the process.

“The three officers sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to Bura East Sub-County hospital in critical condition,” Fafi police commander said.

Garisa police commander, however, said a full report will be issued later in the day after investigations.

Constable Ngao had left a lady friend’s house in town when the incident happened at around 2.15 am.
