KCB-Mvita branch in Mombasa County will be closed for the next three days after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus disease, the commercial bank has said in a press statement.

“The affected staff [members], who were working with him (COVID-19 patient), have been informed, and are currently undergoing counselling and screening to ensure their safety and wellbeing,” said KCB on Tuesday, May 26.

“The [Mvita] branch has since been temporarily closed for 3 days with the approval of the Central Bank of Kenya to enable immediate cleaning and disinfection of the premises.”

The information was confirmed by KCB CEO Joshua Oigara.

“As the fight against this pandemic continues, we have taken several precautionary measures internally, in line with the guidelines issued by government agencies. We continue to provide support to staff and their families during this period of the pandemic,” said Oigara.

The bank urged Mvita branch customers to “visit nearby branches and agents for assistance”.

On Tuesday, May 26, Mombasa posted 16 of the 62 new coronavirus cases in Kenya, Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman announced.
