Karua urges Gen Z to shun political parties tainted by corruption

The People’s Liberation Party Leader, Martha Karua, has cautioned Gen Zs to be wary of the political parties they are joining, saying that many of them have deep-rooted corruption.

Speaking to Kameme TV on Monday, August 4, 2025, the PLP boss said that most political parties reflect the character of their founders.

She urged the youth not to be blinded by names or slogans when choosing where to place their trust.

A party is like its leader

Karua said that political parties are not just colours or logos but institutions built around individual values.

“I want to say that we have so many political parties.

“A political party behaves as the owner of the party behaves. Just like the kid, if the father is corrupt, it will be so,” Karua said.

She warned that a party led by corrupt people cannot deliver clean leadership.

“If the party has corruption, it won’t be able to bring good governance,” she added.

Karua pointed fingers at the ruling coalition as an example.

“Look at UDA Party or Kenya Kwanza,” she said, suggesting that young voters should not be quick to join such outfits.

Corruption-free options exist

Karua said it is not enough to avoid the ruling side.

She explained that even within the opposition, there are parties that still promote corrupt practices.

“So, look for a party that will bring light to Kenya.I urge all of you to look into a party’s structure before joining it,” Karua said.

She challenged the youth to ask hard questions and look beyond loud headlines.

Karua also took the opportunity to pitch her party as a clean alternative.

“I wanna tell those in the opposition, join a party that is corruption-free,” she said.

“PLP is the one that knows no corruption.”

She concluded by saying the youth have the power to shape the next government and must not waste that power by joining parties that have betrayed public trust.
