Former Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo will be laid to rest on Saturday, June 26, in his Mabinju village, Siaya County.

The MP, 55 passed away on Monday evening, June 14 at Nairobi Hospital after suffering cardiac arrest.

The family is set to hold a fundraising today at 5 PM to offset funeral expenses at Trinity Hall, in All Saint’s Cathedral.

Later, his requiem mass will be held on Thursday, June 24 at CITAM Valley Road Nairobi.

Jakoyo, who is a cousin to the ODM leader Raila Odinga, was first elected into Parliament in 2002 on a NARC party ticket and served up to 2017.

After serving for three terms, he lost to Elisha Ochieng who had defeated him in the ODM primaries.

Reports indicate that Jakoyo’s family, however, is pursuing police assistance to help unearth was led to his death as the ‘cardiac arrest theory’ did not add up.

According to them, he led a healthy life and followed all the COVID-19 protocols strictly but still died in unclear circumstances.

“We had no option but to report the matter to the police. My brother was fit, well, and going about his activities as usual and therefore we cannot understand why and how he just fell ill and died,” Jalang’o, his elder brother told K24 Digital.

He further noted that Midiwo was fairing well while he was admitted while admitted at the medical facility.
