Imran Okoth, the brother of the late Ken Okoth, has been declared the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate for the Kibra by-election.

Imran, alias Bernard Otieno Okoth, easily emerged the victor in a crowded field of 10 aspirants who battled it out in a party primary held on Saturday, September 7.

He garnered 4,382 votes while his closest competitor, Peter Orero, got 1,218 votes.

Imran will now face off with Eliud Owalo (Amani National Congress), former footballer McDonald Mariga (Jubilee Party), and Khamisi Butichi (Ford Kenya) in the November 7 by-election.

The Kibra Constituency seat fell vacant in July following the death of Imran’s brother, Ken, who died after a long battle with colorectal cancer.
