His call came ahead of the busy festive season, which will start officially after the national examinations in the country.
The security officers are expected to play a critical role in ensuring that motorists adhere to traffic rules to prevent any cases of accidents during the busy month.

During the festive season, most people travel to the countryside to celebrate together with other family members, compelling some motorists to be in a rush to meet the growing demand, resulting in accidents.
Besides the role in the transport sector, the police officers play a critical role in assuring the citizens’ security during festivities.
Their presence helps reduce cases of robbery, theft and avert any security threats as people gather to celebrate and unwind in various parts of the country.

Remain steadfast
Besides the call for vigilance during the festive season, IG Kanja implored the security officers to remain steadfast in their service to the nation.
“In his remarks, the Inspector General thanked all congregants for attending the service and commended officers for their dedication to their often volatile and demanding duties.
He urged them to pray for grace and anchor their hope in the event’s theme, “God strengthens and keeps me secure.”

The service was presided over by the Rt. Rev. George Muthaka, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Garissa and in charge of the Uniformed and Disciplined Services Chaplaincy.
In his sermon, Bishop Muthaka commended officers for their selfless sacrifice and steadfast dedication to their challenging duties throughout the year, urging them to remain thankful and continually seek God’s blessings.
The bishop also urged officers to cultivate gratitude toward one another, regardless of rank or status. He emphasised the importance of treating members of the public with dignity and respect in the course of duty.
Additionally, he encouraged officers to take care of their families, noting that after service—whether due to illness or retirement—family remains the cornerstone of hope and support. He advised officers to educate their children well to secure their future.
