The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted continued heavy rainfall with isolated storms in some parts of the country.
According to the weatherman’s latest outlook, rainfall is expected to continue over some parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the South Rift Valley, the southeastern lowlands, and the Coast.
For most parts of the country, rain is expected over a few places in the morning, showers and thunderstorms over several places in the afternoon, and showers over a few spots at night with isolated storms likely to occur in some areas.
The counties set to experience the continuation of short rains include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot and Narok.

“Isolated storms with heavy rainfall (>20mm in 24 hours) are likely in some areas,” the weatherman stated.
Weatherman, the general outlook also predicted that regions in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi, will experience intermittent cloudiness in the morning, giving way to sunny intervals. In a few places, afternoon and night showers are likely.
In the advisory, the weatherman predicted that counties in the North-Eastern and North-Western regions would remain sunny and dry with a possibility of occasional rainfall.
The northeastern counties include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo, while residents of Turkana and Marsabit are expected to experience strong winds exceeding 25 knots.

“Strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 m/s) are expected in parts of Turkana and Marsabit counties,” the weatherman stated.
Temperatures
The weatherman predicts temperatures above 30°C are likely in the Coast, Northeastern, and Northwest of Kenya.
Chilly nights with temperatures below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley are also expected within the week.
“Average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced in several parts of the country, including the Coast, northeastern, and northwestern Kenya. Average nighttime (minimum) temperatures will be less than 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley and the Central and North Rift Valley,” the weatherman stated.
