Harambee Stars players to bag Ksh1M each after DR Congo win

The reward is part of a hefty package promised by President William Ruto when he visited the camp ahead of the continental showpiece.
During a motivational visit to the team’s camp , President Ruto lit up the players’ spirits with an irresistible offer: “You win CHAN, you get Ksh600 million,” he said, sharing a light moment with captain Aboud Omar.
He further pledged Ksh1 million to each member of the Harambee Stars delegation for every match won and Ksh500,000 for a draw, plus an additional Ksh60 million if the team reaches the quarterfinals. The stakes only get higher—with Ksh70 million on offer for a semifinal berth.
Players will be keen to receive the money from the head of state after the hard-fought victory.
Odhiambo’s golden strike
The game’s defining moment in the dying minutes of the first half when midfield maestro Austin Odhiambo slotted home a sensational goal after combining with forward David Sakwa. The crowd erupted as his precise left-footed finish found the bottom corner, sending DR Congo’s defenders into panic and the Kenyan faithful into celebration.

Goalkeeper Byrne Omondi was equally stellar, denying DR Congo a clear equaliser with a crucial 67th-minute save. His composure between the posts anchored the team’s resilience in a tense second half.
