The woman who stole a baby from Kisii town bus terminus last week on Thursday has been arrested in Nyaigesa village, Nyamira County.
Naomi Bosibori 25, was arrested by police officers from Miruka police post in Nyamira on Sunday, May 10.
This was was after a member of the public tipped off the area chief after the incident was aired on TV and photos of the culprit captured by a CCTV in a public toilet, in which two women who were seen exchanging the baby in Kisii town was made public.
Nyamira County Children’s Services Coordinator, Sammy Korir, while handing over the baby to its biological mother who came to Nyamira police station immediately she was alerted, thanked members of the public for their quick response in reporting the matter to the area administrators as it helped the baby to be rescued with ease.
“The children’s office is grateful to the media for airing the incident and the patriotic citizen who was quick to report on the whereabouts of the baby, which has helped the administrators trace it and enable the agonizing mother, Sheilla Nyaboke be reunited with the toddler,” said Korir.
“The abductor is expected to be arraigned in Kisii law courts Monday, May 11, to answer to charges of child abduction,” stated the children’s officer.
Meanwhile, Korir has advised parents to take their guardian responsibility seriously and ensure they protect their children against any form of abuse, mistreatment and even abduction, especially during this time when schools remain due to Coronavirus
