Gachagua: Gold roads, free milk or Ksh100K can’t buy Ruto forgiveness

By , August 7, 2025

Former DP Rigathi Gachagua has openly told his former boss, President William Ruto, that no single Kenyan needs him in power.

Speaking during an engagement with Kenyans living in the US Midwest on Thursday, August 7, 2025, Gachagua escalated the verbal war with a fiery speech.

He questioned the legitimacy of Ruto’s leadership and directly linked him to the suffering and deaths of young Kenyans.

In an emotionally charged address, Gachagua accused President Ruto of presiding over a brutal administration that has left families grieving across the country.

“President of a country, elected by the people, has the audacity to give orders to terminate our children’s lives,” he said, insisting that the Head of State had turned against his citizens, particularly the youth.

The former Deputy President said more than 200 young people between the ages of 15 and 24 had been abducted, tortured, and killed since 2024, while others disappeared without a trace.

He added that security agencies had operated with impunity, claiming Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen gave shoot-to-kill orders in broad daylight, which were later reinforced by President Ruto’s public remarks about shooting protesters in the leg.

We will never vote for you

Gachagua dismissed any attempts by the Ruto administration to redeem itself through development projects or financial handouts.

“That is why Kenyans are saying bwana Kasongo, even if you pipe milk to our home, even if you build roads made of gold, even if you paid us every day Ksh100k, your hands carry the blood of our children, and we cannot vote for you,” he said to loud applause from the diaspora crowd.

The remarks come amid growing public dissent back home over police brutality, economic strain, and political repression, with several opposition voices urging global attention and accountability.

Gachagua is currently on a multi-city US tour engaging the diaspora and rallying support ahead of 2027.

It remains to be seen what cards Ruto has in his chest to curb Rigathi Gachagua, who appears to be on a mission to ensure that his 2027 bid will not be actualised.
