Form Four students at Kipsaos Boys High School in Elgeyo Marakwet County went on the rampage on Sunday night, causing damage to property.
Following the fracas, Kapkwoni Assistant Chief Philip Rutto, said that 57 out of the school’s 98 students were not accounted for, having escaped through a fence and church gate.
Rutto said that he was alerted by the school clerk when the students’ strike broke out at night.
He said that he immediately informed security officers stationed at the Kamwosor division, who responded swiftly.
“I also rushed there and met some teachers and students at the church gate through which they had escaped,” he said.
The students, Rutto said, escaped through the fence and church gate when security officers arrived at the school led by Area County Commissioner Raymond Jembe and OCS.
Of the students who were found in the school, 30 were cornered in a kiosk near the school while 11 others were found at a local primary school.
The security team from Kamwosor was reinforced by officers from Chepkorio and Kaptagat stations.
