Duale begs Kenyans for patience as he cleans up health fraud
By Cynthia Lodite, August 28, 2025Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has begged Kenyans to bear with him as he fights the rampant corruption in the Social Health Insurance Fund.
Duale made his remarks on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, while calling on Kenyans to allow the Ministry of Health to clean up and prosecute those found guilty in the recent corruption scandals within the Ministry of Health.
“To weed out deep-rooted fraud within our health insurance, we urge all Kenyans to allow us to clean up, prosecute, and surcharge those found culpable without interference from anybody or any office, including my former colleagues (MPs), some of whom own facilities that have been flagged through our system,” Duale said.

SHA suspends hospitals
The government has suspended 45 health facilities across the country from accessing benefits under the Social Health Authority (SHA).
According to the gazette notice signed by SHA Chief Executive Officer Mercy Mwangangi on August 26, 2025, the suspensions were issued in line with Section 48 (6) of the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 48 (6) of the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023, the Social Health Authority hereby gives notice to the public of the suspension of the health facilities set out in the Schedule below,” read the notice in part.
“In accordance with the provisions of the Social Health Insurance Act, the health facilities set out in the Schedule shall not be entitled to any benefit from the Social Health Authority during the period of their suspension.”
Suspended facilities
The facilities include Aasdif Medical and Health Service Limited (Mandera), Abakore Nursing Home Ltd (Wajir), Abala Healthcare Limited (Kisumu), Akemio Valley Maternity And Nursing Home (Narok), Alasland Hospital Limited (Turkana), Al-Baitul Tiiba Hospital (Garissa), Artan Medical Centre (Wajir), Aspro Medecol Solutions (Kakamega), and Asyale Medicare And Nursing Home (Mandera).
Similarly, on the list are Chala Health Services Ltd (Homa Bay), Chemwaa Health Centre (Bongoma), Dawafront Pharmacy & Clinic (Kisumu), Desertview Healthcare Services (Mandera), Equity Afia-Homa Bay (Homa Bay), Equity Afia-Mandera (Mandera), Filyne Chima Hospital Ltd (Kisii), Garissa Doctors Clinic (Garissa), Gopima Medical Centre Ltd (Kisii),
Others include Grassroot Community Healthcare Ltd (Bungoma), Guardian Hospital-Meru (Meru), Kal Health Nursing Home (Mandera), Kimathi Medical Services Karaba (Kirinyaga), Lenmek Healthcare Annex Magenche (Kisii), Lenmek Hospital Limited (Kisii), Lifenest Community Medical Centre (Homa Bay), Lumola Medical Clinic (Busia), Mama Ebla Nursing Home Ltd (Mandera), Meswo Medical Services (Nandi), Namanga Nursing Home (Kajiado), and Nelepek Medical Care Centre (Homa Bay).
